Project Details
The year-long widening project undertaken for the Lowndes County Board of Commissioners (BOC) involved various essential components to enhance the infrastructure. The project encompassed clearing the right-of-way (ROW), as well as implementing stormwater management systems, water infrastructure, base construction, curb and gutter installation, and the application of asphalt.
To facilitate effective stormwater management, 6,579 linear feet of storm pipe were installed as part of the project. Additionally, a substantial amount of 16,135 tons of granite-graded aggregate base (GAB) and 18,650 tons of asphalt were utilized to ensure the durability and smoothness of the road surface.
The project also required significant earthwork, with approximately 31,572 cubic yards of dirt being moved to accommodate the widening process. Furthermore, a total length of 11,032 linear feet of curb and gutter was constructed to enhance drainage and delineation along the roadway.
