Our philosophy is to bring strong planning, scheduling and project management to every project. We put extra effort into training and development of our personnel and we make sure they have well maintained equipment that is properly suited for the job at hand. Finally, nothing is more important than the safety of our workforce and the public (our safety program is discussed in more detail elsewhere on this website).

Each of these components are important so that:

  • We are capable of successfully completing our projects in a manner that exceeds the expectation of our clients; and
  • We are capable of recognizing and overcoming unforeseen obstacles that might arise on the project.

The primary business of The Scruggs Company is heavy construction and site work. We pursue projects in various sizes including projects billing less than $10,000 up to projects billing over $120,000,000. Depending on the type of project, the geographic location might be anywhere in the Southeastern United States.

On a typical project, we provide all sitework services with in-house forces including clearing, grading, storm drainage, water/sanitary and paving.  Normally, we are involved as a prime contractor, contracting  directly with the owner, but we also work as a subcontractor on some projects.

The Scruggs Company was incorporated in 1965 in the State of Georgia. In 1981 the operations were split into two separate businesses. Ferrell Scruggs Sr. would be the principal of The Scruggs Company which would keep its focus on contracting work (including asphalt plant-mix production) and on the on-going sand plant operations. Ferrell Scruggs Jr. was made president of The Scruggs Company in 1996. Under his leadership, the company has continued to grow and experience success.
