NOTICE: The Scruggs Company is looking for subcontractors for the 2019 Pending CDBG Employment Incentive Program Grant, Project #ENG 2019-07 – Arglass Road in Lowndes County. Subcontracts will include all sitework trades and is estimated to start April 2020. These subcontracts are covered under the requirements of Section 3 of the HUD Act of 1968. These subcontract opportunities are a Section 3 Covered Contract. Section 3 Business Concerns are encouraged to apply. All paperwork including Section 3 documentation must be completed. Subcontractors and Vendors

Plans and specifications are typically available for review at our main office. Depending on the project and the size of the files, we may be able to forward plans and specifications to you.

We expect our subcontractors to quote the work per the plans and specifications, or otherwise clearly indicate any exceptions.  Quotes from reputable subcontractors are considered equally, and we strive to award the work to the subcontractor who provided the best quote at bidtime. Your quotes can be forwarded to us via fax or email (we prefer email).  We ask that you forward your quote in a timely manner – last minute quotes may be rejected.

We ask all of our subcontractors to carry the following insurance:

  • General Liability Insurance:  $1,000,000 per occurrence/ $2,000,000 aggregate
  • Workers Compensation Insurance:  $1,000,000 limit
  • Auto Liability Insurance:  $1,000,000 limit
  • Umbrella Insurance:  $2,000,000 limit

* In certain circumstances, the limits shown above may be adjusted (increased or decreased).

Haulers

You must carry Workers Compensation Insurance and General Liability Insurance if you wish to haul for us.  This applies even if you are exempt from the state requirement for workers compensation because you have few employees.

About

The Scruggs Company was incorporated in 1965 in the State of Georgia. In 1981 the operations were split into two separate businesses. Ferrell Scruggs Sr. would be the principal of The Scruggs Company which would keep its focus on contracting work (including asphalt plant-mix production) and on the on-going sand plant operations. Ferrell Scruggs Jr. was made president of The Scruggs Company in 1996. Under his leadership, the company has continued to grow and experience success.
